Located in Kahului, Maui, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is a five-acre plant sanctuary filled with a collection of native and Polynesian plants, many of which were essential crops throughout Hawaiian history. Here you will find over 70 varieties of taro, 40 types of sugarcane, and 15 varieties of sweet potatoes, as well as native poppies, wild hibiscus, and the native and rare Wiliwiki tree, along with many more plants and trees. While visiting, you can do a self-guided tour via your phone or with the printed plant guide that the botanical garden provides.
